SVG Motor Sports own 1600cc Mk1 VW Golf is campaigned in the the CTCRC Classic Group 1 championship.

VW Golf racer during buildBodyshell: Mk1 VW Golf two door steel bodyshell with steel doors, bonnet and boot and standard glass. Painted black with metallic gold detailing and graphics package.

Engine: VW 1600cc, overhead camshaft, four cylinders with balanced crankshaft and conrods and JE forged pistons. Polished, ported and skimmed cylinder head with Shrike camshaft. Standard K-Jet fuel injection system, NGK spark plugs. Oil cooler and aluminium radiator. Four branch exhaust manifold and free flow exhaust system.

Transmission: Lightened and balanced flywheel with heavy duty clutch. Five speed gearbox with limited slip differential.

Interior of VW Golf race carSuspension: Leda two way adjustable coilover shock absorbers all round with uprated springs. Uprated bushes throughout.

Brakes: Front – vented, cross drilled and grooved discs, standard callipers and Mintex cometion pads. Rear – Standard drums and shoes with cable handbrake. Braided brake hoses and competion brake fluid.

Fuel System: Custom alloy tank mounted in spare wheel well with custom cover. Bosch high pressure fuel pump. Running Shell V-Power.

Interior: Safety Devices rollacage with extra diagonal and rear cross bar. Corbeau Revelution seat with six point harness. Custom dash with tacho, oil pressure, oil temperature and water temperature gauges. Custom switch box and plumbed in fire extinguisher.

Wheels & Tyres: Four spoke deep dish 13x6" wheels with Dunlop 185/60 D84 control tyre.
