Luc Wilson’s Austin A40
Luc Wilson’s Austin A40 races with the Classic Touring Car Racing Club in the Classic Saloons and Historic Sports Car Championship for pre 1966 vehicles. Luc came to SVG Motorsport complaining of handling problems. After a full inspection it was decided that some upgrades were required.

Front Suspension

Rear axle radius arms
Front anti-roll bar
At the front end, the anti-roll bar was removed, new alloy mountings manufactured and the roll bar re-fitted. New higher poundage front springs were also fitted. Both these upgrades are designed to help the balance of the vehicle under braking and minimise roll when cornering.

Rear Suspension

At the rear of the vehicle it was noted that the axle had been moving around. A rear radius arm or anti-tramp bar kit was manufactured and fitted along with a bespoke panhard rod kit. These help to stop the axle from twisting and moving sideways when taking up drive and cornering. These modifications along with new rear leaf spring bushes and the solid mounting of the axle to the leaf springs provide a more positive feel to the car.

Whilst in the workshop, a quick tidy up in the interior was also carried out, completed with a fresh coat of paint.

Finally, the vehicle was checked on the corner weight scales for balance and found to be in reasonable trim and the tracking checked and adjusted as required.

On its return to competition Luc felt the car to be a much better package to drive resulting in him taking the class title for 2010.
